Case study PRETTL Electronics

Complete lighting installation and mounting services for PRETTL Electronics GmbH

LED luminaires in Prettl Electronics offices enhancing employee comfort.

Emission neutrality is one of the most important principles of PRETTL Electronics GmbH, one of the leading German providers of electronic manufacturing services (EMS). The company supplies many industries, including the automotive, aerospace, and rail industries, but also produces electronic components for the medical and energy sectors and many others. The manufacture of electronic components requires high-quality lighting. For this purpose, modern LED luminaires must be used to adequately illuminate workplaces while also enabling savings.

Modernization of the existing electrical installation

Luminaires with remote control

Light intensity min. 500 lx at the workplace

Increasing the efficiency of the work performed and reducing the amount of CO2 produced were the most important goals of the investor. Our solution was based on reducing energy consumption for lighting while increasing employee comfort. We achieved this by evenly illuminating the work surfaces.

Lighting design concept

Lighting of workplaces where electronic components are produced must meet many requirements. First, adequate light intensity and uniformity must be ensured. Lighting with anti-glare. To do this, we performed the following: lighting audit and a detailed project. However, to achieve the investor’s goal of maximizing the energy savings of the lighting system, it was necessary to equip the system with a control system.

Based on the audit, we determined the condition of the electrical installation. The satisfactory condition of the system enabled retrofitting with this system. We replaced the existing light sources with the linear luminaire system Trunking LED. Before the actual installation, we conducted a test phase. After successful acceptance, we replaced the previous lamps.

To minimize the energy generated by the lighting, we introduced a solution in the form of a control system. We equipped the installation with the following components: daylight sensors, which allow the power of the light sources to be reduced during the day. However, it should be noted that the illuminance at the workplace should always be at least 500 lx.

Trunking LED

An excellent alternative to sodium vapor lamps in the high-bay area. It offers impressive light efficiency of up to 180 lm/W and a wide power range of 78W to 228W, with a warranty of up to 10 years.

LED investment analysis

For the lighting concept, we created a detailed financial analysis of the investment, which among other things, showed an estimated return on investment of 3.2 years and a cost reduction of 65%.

The modernization of the lighting also improved the uniformity of the illumination of the work surfaces and reduced glare. This has contributed to better working conditions and higher employee performance. This effect was particularly noticeable on a production line where very precise optics are used.

As a result, the number of errors made by employees has decreased by about 15-20%, which represents a significant reduction.

An additional benefit of the investment was the integration of general and site-specific lighting systems with emergency lighting.

The switch to LED lighting brought the customer a number of benefits:

  • Reduction of CO2 emissions by more than 50 tons per year
  • Annual electricity savings of 65%
  • 10-year warranty on the luminaires
  • ROI of lighting modernization with installation in 3.2 years
  • Intelligent light control through daylight sensors
  • Increased comfort and efficiency of employees
  • Minimization of errors at workplaces by about 20%
