Installation of industrial lighting often involves locating luminaires in places exposed to a number harmful factors. In industrial facilities, a high temperature is involved, which often reaches up to +70°C.
So what properties should LED luminaires have for high temperatures?

First of all, it is proper thermal management. This means that the design of the lamp should be able to properly dissipate large amounts of heat. In this case, a housing made of aluminum works perfectly.

The power supply system is one of the most vulnerable components of a luminaire designed for areas with high temperatures. For this reason, power supplies that are resistant to this factor should be used. This will definitely extend the service life and the luminaire will be able to shine longer.

An equally important element of luminaires designed for high temperatures is the diffuser material. The most common problem when installing standard luminaires in places of increased risk is the yellowing and increased brittleness. Therefore, the diffuser should be made of materials resistant to these effects, e.g. tempered glass.

Another aspect is the use of the right LEDs. LED luminaires for high temperatures should be equipped with high-quality light sources. This is demonstrated by the L80 B10 parameter given in hours. However, special attention should be paid to the temperature at which a given indicator was determined – the longer the time is, the better for the user.

What may be the other functions of luminaires designed for high temperatures?

Such a feature is the ability to mechanically adjust the illumination angle . Therefore, the lamp can be placed both on the wall and ceiling, and the impact of the high temperature source on the luminaire is reduced. On the other hand, the feature that is critical for versatility of the solution is the mounting method – either on the surface or suspended.

What is discomfort glare?
Every one of us has, on more than one occasion, experienced dazzling light, which, in practice, is known as discomfort glare. Commonly referred to as glare, this effect adversely affects the eyes, reducing vision and recognition.
Lumens to watts – how to convert the luminous flux?
The luminous flux of LED lighting is given in lumens. With traditional light sources, on the other hand, the luminous intensity was usually determined as the power they consumed in watts. To be able to at least compare the two sources to some extent, it is necessary to convert lumens to watts. Therefore, in this article we address this issue.
