So what properties should LED luminaires have for high temperatures?
First of all, it is proper thermal management. This means that the design of the lamp should be able to properly dissipate large amounts of heat. In this case, a housing made of aluminum works perfectly.
The power supply system is one of the most vulnerable components of a luminaire designed for areas with high temperatures. For this reason, power supplies that are resistant to this factor should be used. This will definitely extend the service life and the luminaire will be able to shine longer.
An equally important element of luminaires designed for high temperatures is the diffuser material. The most common problem when installing standard luminaires in places of increased risk is the yellowing and increased brittleness. Therefore, the diffuser should be made of materials resistant to these effects, e.g. tempered glass.
Another aspect is the use of the right LEDs. LED luminaires for high temperatures should be equipped with high-quality light sources. This is demonstrated by the L80 B10 parameter given in hours. However, special attention should be paid to the temperature at which a given indicator was determined – the longer the time is, the better for the user.
